Bangala Dam

Bangala Dam is a constant radius cylindrical arch with an upstream radius of 167m. The arch is of constant 6,7m thickness, except near the crest where it is reduced. The crest/length ratio of 7,8/1 is quite high for an arch dam.

The spillway is a central overflow ogee section with ski jump type flip bucket, and is 140m long.

The outlets are formed by twin pipes of 1 100mm diameter passing through the dam wall, with hydraulically operated emergency gates on the upstream side, and flow control by cone valves.
