THE Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) board has, in terms of Section 17 of the ZINWA Act (Chapter 20:25) appointed Engineer Taurai Maurikira as Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment is with effect from March, 03, 2020.
Prior to his appointment, Eng Maurikira has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer since the departure of Dr Jefter Sakupwanya in 2018.
Eng Maurikira joined ZINWA in 2001 and has held a number of positions within the Authority, including being chief engineer, Designs and Construction Manager and Director for Engineering and Hydrological Services.
He is a seasoned civil engineer with experience spanning nearly three decades. Throughout his career, Eng Maurikira has been largely involved in the design and construction of dams and related water infrastructure.
Eng Maurikira has overseen the construction and completion of major water projects such as Tugwi-Mukosi Dam, Bubi-Lupane Dam, Mtshabezi Pipeline, Mutange Dam and Lupane Water Treatment works in the different capacities he has held within the Authority.
Eng Maurikira was the chairman of the 2016 ZINWA National Drought Response Committee which superintended over the development and implementation of the Authority’s countrywide water security programme which led to the construction of weirs and drilling of boreholes for affected communities.
