The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department has achieved a lot and the authority has benefited immensely. The following are some of the notable achievements of the department;
1. Wide Area Network
This started as a local area network for the computers at the Head Office but due to technological demand and advancement catchments were connected.
2. Email System
With every user connected there was a call for those users to communicate effectively and efficiently hence the ICT department went on to set up email servers so that every users has their own email address. This improves communication, e-filling and timely decisions can be made as information is reading available and accessible.
With the catchments connected, email system in place the department ushered in internet services to all departments. The internet came with a myriad of advantages and allowed employees to research, corroborate, contribute to remote projects as well as engage in online activities like shopping and networking.
4. BIQ System
The department has implemented the BIQ integrated system across the country and to date 80% of stations are connected. This allows real time receipting and online balance inquiry for the convenience of our valued customers countrywide.
5. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
The department connected ZINWA branches to the head office through Voice Over Internet Protocol to improve communication and reduce the authority’s telephone bill. This means calls between the authority satellite offices across the country will be internal and inexpensive.
